Golden willow stems

Making cuts or pruning is all about timing. Don’t cut too early or you will loose the benefits of the amazing stem colour in the low late winter sun. The best time for pruning shrubs such as these dogwood and willow is in late February. However it is important when pruning to read the plants and the season, make the cut when the new growth emerges generally as the season warms and the days continue to lengthen.
