Autumn colour

It is really important to remember that autumn colour comes in many forms. Here the orange berries of Pyracantha “Orange charmer” provide a perfect backdrop for the red stems of Cornus alba “Elegantissima” complement. When considering these combinations it is important to consider not just timings but also heights and proportions to make things work. Autumn colour contrasts can be between foliage and fruit, fruit and stems or simply a standout colour such as the white berries of Sorbus cashmiriana.
