I have been hard at work for almost forty years and still get excited about getting my hands dirty. Having also worked in horticultural education for almost twenty years a return to hands-on gardening has brought me huge satisfaction. As my wife says, “you’re a different person”. The almost daily satisfaction, weather depending, of preparing, planting or pruning in different gardens fills me with a sense of regenerative pleasure. Having also recently been through significant medical trauma being back in the garden is proving to be hugely beneficial to my mental health and overall recovery.
Gardening is good for both mental & physical health. Organisations including the RHS recognise the value of gardening. “There are few activities that can achieve what horticulture and gardening can. The act of gardening helps us keep fit and connect with others“. Gardening is good for you!
